Hair systems for alopecia & medical hair loss

Losing your hair to alopecia or medical treatment is different — it is rarely gradual, often total, and it can feel like it happened to you rather than something you chose. A hair system is one of the few options that works no matter how much hair you have lost.

If you are living with alopecia areata, totalis or universalis, or you have lost hair through chemotherapy or another medical treatment, the usual hair-loss advice can feel like it was written for someone else. Most of it assumes you still have hair to save. This is written for when you do not.

Why a hair system suits alopecia

A hair system is a fine, breathable base — lace or silk — hand-knotted with real human hair, bonded to your scalp and cut into a hairline shaped for your face. The key point for alopecia is this: it does not depend on your own hair at all. It bonds to the scalp, so it works whether you have patchy loss, a smooth scalp, or anything in between.

That is the crucial difference from a hair transplant, which can only move hair you still have from a healthy donor area to a thinner one. With total or extensive loss there is no donor area to draw from — so a transplant simply is not an option. A system has no such limit. It gives a full, natural head of hair the same day, regardless of how much you have lost.

Gentle, and honest about your scalp

Alopecia and treatment can leave the scalp sensitive, and we treat that with respect. We use skin-friendly bonding and assess your scalp carefully and unhurriedly at your free consultation. If it is healing, irritated, or you are mid-treatment, we will tell you plainly — sometimes the kindest advice is to wait a little, or to start with a gentler method. We would always rather be honest than push you into something before you are ready.

We are a hair studio, not a medical clinic, so for the alopecia itself we will always encourage you to stay in touch with your GP or dermatologist. What we provide sits alongside their care: the cosmetic side — getting your hair, and the version of yourself you recognise, back.

What it looks like, and what it costs

Because the hair is real and the base is cut into a hairline made for you, it reads as your own hair growing from your own scalp — close up, in photographs, in bright light. Our three systems are all £495, with maintenance around £60 every four to six weeks, and a monthly plan if you would rather spread it. The first consultation is free and completely private.
